A Builder Who Respects the Old Houses
Lanesboro is not a town where you can slap on the cheapest vinyl and call it done. Much of the downtown is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the brick storefronts and Victorian homes built in the late 1800s and early 1900s are the reason people come here. Working on a house like that means matching trim profiles, respecting original proportions, and knowing when a repair beats a replacement.
We've been building in the Root River Valley since 1987, about fifteen minutes east of Lanesboro on Highway 16. Over 39 years we've learned what these older homes hide behind the plaster — balloon framing, undersized headers, knob-and-tube remnants, foundations that predate anybody's idea of a moisture barrier. We price for what's actually there rather than writing an optimistic number and coming back with change orders once the walls are open.
Common Projects in Lanesboro
A lot of our Lanesboro work is careful renovation: kitchens and baths updated inside period homes, window replacements that keep the sightlines right, roof replacements on steep Victorian pitches, and porch and deck work. Several of the town's Victorians operate as bed-and-breakfasts, which means the work has to be scheduled around a booking calendar and finished when we said it would be. We also build new homes and additions on lots around the valley.
