Practically Our Backyard
Houston sits about ten miles down Highway 16 from our shop in Rushford — same river valley, same limestone bluffs, same weather. That proximity is not a marketing line; it's the practical reason Houston projects run smoothly for us. We can swing by on a Tuesday morning to look at a roof, come back Thursday with a number, and have a crew on site without anybody eating an hour of windshield time.
Houston is a small town of just under a thousand people with a housing stock to match — a lot of homes built well before modern insulation, window, and roofing standards, sitting on valley lots and bluff-side parcels. The Root River State Trail runs right through town, and properties near the trail and the river have their own considerations: drainage, grade, and floodplain awareness all matter more here than they would on a flat suburban lot. We've been building in this valley for 39 years, and we plan for it.
Common Projects in Houston
Most of what we do in Houston is improvement work on existing homes: roof replacements, full re-sides, energy-efficient window packages that make a real dent in winter heating bills, and kitchen and bath remodels. We also build additions for families who love their location and would rather grow the house than move, plus new custom homes and decks on valley and bluff lots.
