A Home Builder Who Knows This Valley

Building in Winona means working with the land — bluff-side lots with serious elevation, river-valley soil that varies street to street, and a limited supply of buildable ground that makes every lot decision count. We've built more than 150 homes in this corner of Minnesota since 1987, from walkout ranches tucked into the bluffs to two-stories in the newer plats west of town.

A custom home is a six-to-nine-month relationship with your builder, so it matters who picks up the phone. With us, that's Josh or Justin Rasmussen — the same two people who walk your lot, review your plans, frame your walls, and do your final walkthrough. No project managers rotating off your job, no phone tree.

We build to a standard, not a deadline-driven minimum: engineered trusses sized for real snow loads, properly detailed housewrap and flashing, energy-code-plus insulation, and mechanical systems planned for Minnesota's swings from -20°F to 95°F humidity. It's the difference between a house that's new and a house that's built to last — and it's why homes we built in the 1990s still send us referrals.

How We Build Your Winona Home

Where We're Building

Recent and current projects include bluff-country custom homes near Sugar Loaf and Homer, new builds in the developing plats west of Goodview, and country homes on acreage from Stockton Valley down through Wilson and Pickwick. If you have a lot — or are still hunting for one — we're happy to talk.

Building a Home in Winona FAQ

How much does it cost to build a custom home in the Winona area?
Most of our custom builds land between $200 and $300+ per square foot depending on finishes, site work, and complexity — a 2,000 sq ft home typically starts in the $400,000s plus land and site costs. Bluff lots with steep driveways or walkout foundations add site cost but deliver views you can't buy elsewhere. We provide itemized, fixed bids so you know the real number before committing.
How long does a new home build take?
Plan on 6–9 months from breaking ground to move-in for most custom homes, plus design and permitting time up front. We give you a written timeline with the bid and communicate weekly throughout.
Can you build on a steep or bluff-side lot?
Yes — it's some of our favorite work. We've built walkouts and multi-level homes into bluff terrain across Winona and Houston counties. Steep lots demand careful foundation, drainage, and driveway planning, which is exactly why we walk the lot with you before you buy it.
Do you help with financing and construction draws?
We work with the construction-loan process at local banks and credit unions regularly — draw schedules, inspections, and lien waivers are routine for us, and we're happy to coordinate directly with your lender.
